Adam Thielen Statistics and Facts

13. Thielen doesn’t do dinky receptions like Stefon Diggs did pre-2019.

Since 2016, Stefon Diggs hauled in 89 catches that gained five yards or less. In the same period, Adam Thielen caught 61 passes gained five yards or less. While it’s true that Diggs busted out in a big way as a deep-threat in 2019, he didn’t always have that asset in his toolkit.

Thielen consistently gained more chunk-style yards than Diggs and avoided tiny receptions comparatively.

14. Before his 2019 injury, Thielen was on a noteworthy touchdown-catch pace.

Thielen was on pace for a 13 or 14-touchdown season prior to his 2019 injury. He tallied six touchdowns in seven games and was even infamously injured on a touchdown reception. It was observable that Thielen was playing quite well to that point, but had continued at the same pace, Thielen would have led the NFL in touchdowns catches. Detriot Lions pass-catcher Kenny Golladay instead led the NFL with 11 touchdowns catches.

15. The Vikings have never lost a game when Thielen scores a first-quarter touchdown.

Seven times Thielen has scored in the first quarter of football games, and seven times the Vikings have won. This is a testament to both Thielen for getting on the board early and then Zimmer’s defense protecting those leads.
