Defensive MVP

Eric Kendricks – LB

It shouldn’t be much of a surprise to fans of the Vikings that Eric Kendricks is once again a focus of these MVP articles. He has cemented himself as one of the best middle linebackers in the NFL and is consistent in his play.

Kendricks was everywhere in Week 1. He excelled when asked to stop ball carriers and was even quite good when dropping back into coverage against a Green Bay pass catcher, proving he can do anything asked of him in a Mike Zimmer defense.

On the day, Kendricks led the team in tackles, bringing down 10 ball carriers. Seven of those tackles were solo and one was for a loss. He literally patrolled the field and was one of the only Vikings defenders to be effective all game long.

Kendricks should continue to be a centerpiece of the Vikings defense for many years to come and his play against a tough Packers team that came to play on Sunday should be evidence of that.
