Kirk Cousins Weekly Review: Week 1 vs. the Green Bay Packers

Two beautiful TD tosses to Thielen
Here’s the rub. When Kirk Cousins did target Adam Thielen against the Packers, the results were bankable. Thielen is the most trustworthy wide receiver on the Vikings roster. Cousins knows it and hence he found his security blanket early and often.
Thielen played 96 percent of all Minnesota offensive snaps and he caught 75 percent of the passes thrown in his direction. On five of the eight occurrences that Thielen was targeted, he manufactured first downs. The connection worked.
What’s more delightful is that the two touchdowns throws hurled by Cousins to Thielen were picturesque. Neither pass involved any yards-after-the-catch. Instead, the tosses were perfectly timed and placed only where Thielen could make the play.
This is a habit of Cousins and the Week 1 contest against Green Bay confirmed that the Vikings quarterback was on the mark to start the 2020 campaign.
Also, Cousins was able to deliver these two touchdown strikes when most everybody wearing green and yellow clothing knew where the ball was going. That makes the scores all the more impressive.
