Quenton Nelson – OG

It’s not often you see a guard listed as a player to be concerned about, but that is the case for the Vikings.

Quenton Nelson is a flat out stud and arguably the best guard in the NFL. This cat is extremely tough and he plays with a mean and violent edge to him. Nelson doesn’t just block his guys, he destroys them.

The Colts will want to run the ball better against Minnesota than they did against the Jaguars last week and Nelson will be out to ensure that happens.

He will be paired up against Jaleel Johnson for the most part and that is a battle that Nelson should win the majority of the time. If he’s able to move Johnson, or whoever is on the field at the time, out of the way and get to the second level, it will be catastrophic for the Vikings run defense.

If Nelson can get a body on Eric Kendricks, Anthony Barr, or Eric Wilson and take them out of a play, Indianapolis should find it extremely easy to run the football on Sunday. Colts rookie running back Jonathan Taylor could see some pretty big running lanes if that happens and could be in for a breakout game.

Minnesota will want to ensure they can stay engaged with Nelson and not let him get to the linebackers or the Colts could end up controlling the clock and wearing the down the Vikings defense.
