Defensive MVP

Eric Kendricks – LB

Every week, Kendricks earns a place here in the defensive MVPs and that trend likely won’t end any time soon. The Vikings linebacker is an instrumental part of the team’s defense and he allows the other players around him to be more effective.

Once again, he led the team in tackles, bringing down 12 Indianapolis ball carriers with 11 of those being solo efforts. His efficiency when tackling makes him one of the best middle linebackers in the NFL, but that is far from everything he brings to the table.

Kendricks can do it all. He is excellent in run support, he is solid in coverage, and he can rush the passer when asked. With Anthony Barr leaving the game because of an injury, even more pressure landed on his shoulders to play well, and the linebacker rose to the occasion.

There haven’t been a lot of bright spots for Minnesota during the first two weeks of the NFL season, but one thing for certain is that Kendricks is a shining example of something actually going right for the purple and gold.
