The Minnesota Vikings took another beating in Week 2, this time to the Indianapolis Colts.

The goal this season was to highlight a handful of Minnesota Vikings players who do not get enough recognition for their play on Sundays. Unsung heroes come and go each week as players stand out and make an impact where they are least expected.

However, the entire Vikings roster looked out of sync against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2. Minnesota’s defense could not string together stops while the offense failed to move the ball efficiently.

While I want to pick some guys who deserve props, I cannot really do so in good faith if I’m being honest.

Which Minnesota Vikings player deserves some recognition after Week 2?

The only Vikings player who deserves the spotlight this week is rookie wide receiver Justin Jefferson. He caught each of his three targets on Sunday and set Minnesota up for a score late in the ball game.

Jefferson has not been utilized much in his first two games, but the struggles from Bisi Johnson on Sunday might thrust the rookie into the lineup more.

Jefferson has shown some promise for the Vikings early on, hauling in five catches in two games. Keep in mind Minnesota’s offense has really struggled and Kirk Cousins has forced the ball to Adam Thielen at times. Once Cousins settles in and spreads the ball, Jefferson could be in for a big year.

Defensively, there is nothing for the Vikings to hang their hats on. The defense let Colts rookie Jonathan Taylor run for over 100 yards and backup tight end Mo Alie-Cox racked up 111 receiving yards as he filled in for Jack Doyle.

Minnesota’s defense, who missed Anthony Barr for most of the game, could not find an answer for the Indianapolis offense.

Defensive end Yannick Ngakoue had his first big showing with the Vikings in Week 2, but his performance should not come as a shock to anyone. Minnesota traded a second-round pick for the pass rusher for a reason.
