Week 5 or Beyond?

If the Vikings are unable to come away with wins in Week 3 or Week 4, it’s hard to imagine them getting a victory on the road in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks. Even without their deafening crowd in the stands, beating Russell Wilson and the Seahawks is no simple task.

After their trip to Seattle, Minnesota’s next best chance for a win could be in Week 6 when they host the Atlanta Falcons. The Vikings have never lost to the Falcons with Mike Zimmer as their head coach and they always seem to play well against Atlanta whenever the two teams meet up.

Following their game against the Falcons, Minnesota has a bye and then they travel to face the Green Bay Packers in Week 8, then they host the Detroit Lions in Week 9, they head back out on the road to take on the Chicago Bears in Week 10, and then they face the Dallas Cowboys inside U.S. Bank Stadium in Week 11.

Out of these four matchups, the Vikings’ best chance to get a win has to be their Week 9 contest against the Lions. Minnesota has never lost to Detroit with Matt Patricia as their head coach and unfortunately for the Lions, he’s still the guy in charge.

So, it is possible that the Vikings’ first victory of the year might not come until all the way in Week 9. Minnesota would like to hope that they can get a win before then, but their performances in their first two games of the season let it be known that nothing should be assumed when it comes to this year’s team.
