5 Bold Predictions: Minnesota Vikings vs. Tennessee Titans – Week 3
By Chris Schad
Cousins will have a “Good Kirk” game
Through the first two weeks of the season, the Vikings have been treated to “Bad Kirk Cousins.” Although he put up decent numbers in Week 1, a majority of his stats came in garbage time. Cousins’ Week 2 performance wasn’t much better as he threw three interceptions and reminded fans of Josh Freeman.
While many fans are dreaming of a mid-season trade or Trevor Lawrence in a Vikings jersey, Minnesota is currently stuck with Cousins through the 2022 season. If there’s a silver lining, when Cousins has a performance like the one in Indianapolis, a “Good Kirk” performance is around the corner.
Even with all the negatives around the offensive line and play-calling, the Vikings have given Cousins enough time to do his job. Minnesota was fourth in the NFL last week by giving Cousins 3.08 seconds to throw and in Week 1, he was given 2.59 seconds, which was the ninth-most in the NFL.
While many would like to focus on Dru Samia getting chucked into 2030, it’s not like the Vikings offensive line has allowed Cousins to be on his back immediately.
More accurately, Cousins needs to let it rip rather than wait for the perfect moment to throw. With the season on the line, he should be willing to do what it takes to will his team to win, meaning we could see a “Good Kirk” game on Sunday.
