Find a solution to the secondary mess

The problems in the secondary are there for all to see. This hasn’t got any better with the Minnesota Vikings announcing that Cameron Dantzler and Mike Hughes will miss their game against the Titans, which puts additional pressure on an already threadbare cornerback unit.

Jeff Gladney has gone through his fair share of growing pains, which tends to be the case with first-year players at the position. It has been a baptism of fire for the first-round pick with no warmup games to get up to speed during the preparation period and things need to improve quickly to avoid the possibility of becoming a constant target for opposing offenses.

Now is the time for Holton Hill to stand up and be counted. His contribution so far has earned a dismal 31.2 grade from Pro Football Focus and it is going to be a long afternoon for the Vikings if his production doesn’t get back to the level he is capable of.

All this uncertainty at cornerback has only increased the pressure on Anthony Harris and Harrison Smith on the backend. They were arguably the NFL’s best safety tandem in 2019, but their performances so far this time around have been shaky at best.

The Titans will not have A.J. Brown for their game at U.S. Bank Stadium, which is at least one positive for the Vikings. However, they still have to limit the influence of Adam Humphries, Corey Davis, and Jonnu Smith in order to attain their elusive first triumph of the season.
