Defensive Unsung Hero from Week 4:

D.J. Wonnum – DE

Rookie D.J. Wonnum stepped up and provided the Vikings with some extra pass rush help this week. Wonnum, a fourth-round draft pick by Minnesota this year, rotated in on the defensive line this week, playing 18 snaps and recording his first NFL sack.

Outside of Yannick Ngakoue, the Vikings have not had much of a pass rush this season until Sunday’s victory. Wonnum, who only played in 28 percent of the snaps, recorded two tackles (one for a loss) and a sack.

There is still a lot to improve upon for Wonnum, who struggles with his lateral agility at times. But this should be expected from a rookie who wasn’t able to work on some of his flaws in the preseason since it was canceled this year.

Must Read. 5 QB prospects the Vikings should already be thinking about. light

The future is still bright for Wonnum and he has shown plenty of progress early in his career. Hopefully, Week 4 is a sign of things to come for the rookie pass rusher.
