Seattle will defeat Minnesota in a shootout

In a perfect world, last week’s win over Houston would right the ship for the Vikings. With a win under their belt, Minnesota can exhale, build momentum and make a push to try to catch up to the Green Bay Packers, who already have a three-game lead in the NFC North. That would be great, but it’s just not realistic.

Despite the optimism that came with last week’s win, there are still too many holes on this year’s team.

The Vikings defensive line is not generating enough pressure on the quarterback. Minnesota’s secondary is still a work in progress. The Vikings could also be without both Anthony Barr and  Eric Kendricks on Sunday, throwing two new linebackers in the mix.

Long story short? Minnesota’s defense won’t be able to keep up with the Seahawks this week.

The Vikings’ best chance for victory on Sunday will be to try to outscore Seattle. But with Russell Wilson playing out of his mind, that’s a tough thing to ask. Minnesota will perform admirably, but they’ll come up short ahead of a must-win game against the Atlanta Falcons next week.

Prediction: Seahawks 41, Vikings 38
