Find an answer to the D.K. Metcalf problem

The beating heart of the Seahawks from an offensive perspective is Russell Wilson. They will go only as far as the signal-caller takes them. But they also have a wide receiver of enormous potential in D.K. Metcalf.

After a rookie campaign that was littered with memorable highlights, Metcalf has taken his game to new heights this time around. He is virtually unguardable one-on-one thanks to his rare blend of size and speed, which represents a substantial problem for the Minnesota Vikings and their suspect secondary.

Metcalf is one of the NFL’s best wideouts in single coverage through four weeks. He has already accumulated 16 receptions, 423 receiving yards, three touchdowns, and a lofty yards-per-reception average of 25.2. This is an area where the Vikings have struggled in 2020 so far and it could be another long evening if they don’t come up with the necessary adjustments to try and limit an exceptional passing attack in Seattle.

It doesn’t appear to be the smartest move to leave cornerbacks on an island with Metcalf. They need to get plenty of help from stud safety duo Anthony Harris and Harrison Smith. But even that might not be enough.

If Minnesota can somehow keep Metcalf quiet, then it would improve their chances of attaining an unlikely victory immensely.
