It sounds like the Vikings won’t be seeing Dan Quinn in Week 6

The Minnesota Vikings opponent in Week 6 will reportedly have a new head coach.
So far this season, the Minnesota Vikings have already played a part in one of their 2020 opponents deciding to fire their head coach. It happened last week when the Vikings defeated the Houston Texans and the Texans then decided to part ways with Bill O’Brien, who was the team’s head coach and general manager.
Looking at the rest of Minnesota’s 2020 schedule, it seemed like there was a possibility of this happening again in Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons.
However, the Falcons have reportedly decided to make a head coaching change before they take on the Vikings inside U.S. Bank Stadium next week.
Minnesota Vikings Week 6 opponent reportedly fires head coach
After Atlanta fell to Teddy Bridgewater and the Carolina Panthers on Sunday to lose their fifth-straight game this season, The Athletic’s Jeff Schultz is reporting that the Falcons are expected to fire head coach Dan Quinn and an announcement from the team could happen within the next few days.
Quinn has been the head coach in Atlanta since 2015 and things appeared to be heading in a great direction during his first few years with the franchise. During his first three seasons with the Falcons, the team never finished with a losing record, they made the playoffs twice, and one of those postseason appearances resulted in a trip to the Super Bowl.
Since 2018, however, Quinn and Atlanta struggled to find success as they finished with a 7-9 record in both the 2018 and 2019 seasons. There was some hope that the Falcons could turn things around this year after ending 2019 with six wins in their final eight games. But, obviously, that hasn’t been the case this season.
So instead of Quinn, someone else will be given the head coaching duties when Atlanta takes on Minnesota in Week 6. The Falcons haven’t defeated the Vikings since 2011 and Atlanta hasn’t even won a game in the Twin Cities since 2008.
Hopefully this trend continues for Minnesota and they don’t become the first team in the NFL to lose to the Falcons this season.
