Teddy Bridgewater – QB (Carolina Panthers)

Week 5 Stats:

  • 27-of-37 (73 percent)
  • 313 yards
  • 2 touchdowns
  • 0 interceptions

Few quarterbacks around the NFL are having as good a season as Teddy Bridgewater currently is during his first year as the starting signal-caller for the Panthers.

Bridgewater had another solid performance in Week 5 as he helped lead Carolina to a 23-16 win over the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons have one of the league’s worst pass defenses this season and the former Vikings quarterback took full advantage of his opponent’s weak secondary.

Bridgewater finished with over 300 passing yards for the second time this year and he’s making the Panthers look very smart for signing him this past offseason.

Unlike his tenure in Minnesota, the 27-year-old passer has been benefiting from a Carolina offensive line that has only given up two sacks in the last three weeks. He can actually sit in the pocket without having to worry about his left tackle allowing a defender to cream him from his blindside.

No one around the league was expecting much from the Panthers this season, especially after running back Christian McCaffrey went down with an injury in Week 2. But Bridgewater has Carolina sitting with a 3-2 record and in position to contend for a playoff spot in the NFC.
