Despite a loss in Week 5, the Minnesota Vikings hold steady in NFL power rankings.

Almost nobody expected the Minnesota Vikings to take a trip to Washington and defeat the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5. For a while, it looked as though the purple and gold would shock the world and get a victory, but they fell short and dropped to 1-4 on the season.

Even with failing to secure a win against Seattle, the Vikings looked to be on the right track offensively and defensively. A new defensive scheme helped to stymie the Seahawks offense while Minnesota controlling the tempo with a strong run game on the offensive side of the ball was very effective.

Increased expectations with such a dismal record is an interesting dynamic and one that can lead to interesting placement in the weekly NFL power rankings since it is hard to know exactly who the Vikings are this season.

Let’s take a look at where some of the experts placed Minnesota in their latest power rankings as we head into Week 6 and diagnose how they feel compared to where this team really belongs to be with a 1-4 record and so much talent on the football field.
