Minnesota Vikings Unsung Heroes: Week 5 vs. the Seattle Seahawks

Defensive Unsung Hero from Week 5:
Eric Wilson – LB
Eric Wilson got plenty of praise following his performance on Sunday night, and rightfully so. But this was a long time coming. The Vikings are down to their last few linebackers thanks to a number of injuries and Wilson has stepped up.
Since Week 3, Wilson has not missed a single defensive snap for Minnesota and he has drastically improved after a rough start to his season.
Mike Zimmer dialed up a lot of blitzes against Russell Wilson in Week 5 and Eric Wilson was often the number he called. He recorded three quarterback hits, a sack, and two tackles for loss in Week 5.
But Wilson’s breakout performance does not end there. He also came up with a crucial interception to give the Vikings a chance to put the game away in the fourth quarter.
With the future of Anthony Barr very much in question, a cheaper option in Wilson would make a lot of sense for Minnesota. His performance on Sunday is a glimpse into what he could provide to the second level of the defense.
