Can the Minnesota Vikings avoid a trap game against the winless Atlanta Falcons in Week 6?
Despite a 1-4 start, the Minnesota Vikings have plenty to be optimistic about. The Vikings have seen their young players take a step forward in recent weeks and despite Cameron Dantzler’s “did his controller just disconnect?” moment against the Seattle Seahawks, Mike Zimmer has to feel that his team is on the verge of a turnaround.
To dig themselves out of their early hole, Minnesota will have to do it against the winless Atlanta Falcons this weekend. After starting the season with an 0-5 record, the Falcons have turned the page by firing head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff.
Despite their record, there are plenty of ways the Falcons can slam the brakes on the Vikings’ potential renaissance. With Calvin Ridley and Todd Gurley anchoring the offense, Atlanta also has Grady Jarrett on the defensive side of the ball, who owned the Minnesota offensive line in their 2019 meeting.
Even with the Falcons struggling, they can make the Vikings pay if they don’t come into Sunday’s matchup with complete focus. This would be a bad omen for Minnesota, who needs this win to head into their bye before taking on a schedule that has several winnable games.
If the Vikings are going to make something out of 2020, it has to start on Sunday. With our bold predictions, we’ll see if Zimmer’s squad can do just that.
