Julio Jones – WR

Julio Jones has been hampered with a hamstring injury and his status for Sunday’s game is up in the air. Even at half strength, this superstar receiver is someone the Vikings will have to account for on every single offensive snap.

The guy is truly a freak of nature. He’s 6″3′ 220 pounds and is very physical. He’s a terrible matchup against a Vikings secondary that for the most part lacks size. He can physically outmatch any player in the Vikings defensive backfield, and isn’t just hard to defend a pass against but is extremely tough to bring down when he has the ball in his hands. Speaking of those hands, he has a very strong pair of mitts and will snatch the ball out of the air like a hungry lizard grabbing a fly.

The Vikings would likely try to put their bigger corners like Dantzler or Hill, on Jones,  and that’s a matchup the veteran will win every single time. Safety help will be needed so Smith and Harris could be working extra time in coverage this Sunday.

The Minnesota Vikings used to have Xavier Rhodes on the squad who always seemed to do well against Jones. Without him in the mix, how this mammoth Falcon pass catcher will perform is anyone’s guess, but he could have his best game against the Purple in years if he takes advantage of the inexperience amongst the Vikings cornerbacks.
