What are some reasons to believe that the Minnesota Vikings will knock off the Atlanta Falcons in Week 6?

The Minnesota Vikings have already dabbled in one edition of the “Battle of the Desperate.” That was a Week 4 tryst with the fledgling Houston Texans not long ago. Minnesota exited NRG Stadium victorious in that meeting, and the purple and gold will seek to do the same in Week 6 in a home game versus the Atlanta Falcons.

Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks upended the Vikings on Sunday Night Football last week sending Minnesota to an embarrassing 1-4 record on the season. It’s “embarrassing” because the Vikings were slated by many to be a playoff team. For now, that forecast will mandate a team-wide turnaround and one that is heavy on the defensive emphasis.

Atlanta is one of the few teams in the NFL that is worse than the Vikings. The Falcons are 0-5 and terminated the services of their head coach and general manager earlier this week. They face a pivotal few months on the horizon — ones that will determine the long-term future of a once-formidable franchise.

The Vikings are 4.5-point favorites in a game that could very likely veer off into shootout territory based on the way both defenses have played in 2020.

Here’s why the Vikings will win and grab a 2-4 record heading into the bye week.
