Distribute the ball quickly

Quarterback Kirk Cousins has been hot and cold this season. He is typically the scapegoat when things aren’t going well for the Vikings, which is down to some sections of the media, and the team’s fanbase, still not holding out the belief that he can take Minnesota where they need to go.

A former Viking had a significant amount of success against the Falcons last weekend. Teddy Bridgewater carved up Atlanta in the first half by distributing the football quickly and efficiently in the dynamic scheme conjured up by offensive coordinator Joe Brady.

If something similar was implemented by Minnesota’s play-caller Gary Kubiak, it would stand them in good stead. Getting the ball into the hands of his playmakers at the earliest possible opportunity would not only give them the best possible chance of gaining some big plays against a suspect secondary, but it would also take some of the pressure off their offensive line in the process.

There is nothing to suggest that Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson cannot strike big on Sunday. They are both in tremendous form and the pair need to be firing on all cylinders from the word go, especially with the gameplan expected to alter slightly in the absence of Dalvin Cook.

Kubiak has to get this one right, or it could leave him sitting on the hot seat following the bye week.
