Will Grier (Carolina Panthers)

Heading into the 2019 NFL Draft, the Vikings were among the teams who reportedly had interest in using a selection on Will Grier. Grier ended up getting drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the third round last year, but the interest in the young quarterback from Minnesota could still be there.

Grier spent the majority of his college career at West Virginia and as a senior in 2018, he completed 67 percent of his passes for 3,864 yards, 37 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

Prior to the 2019 draft, the young quarterback was compared to a number of NFL signal-callers like Derek Carr, Andy Dalton, and Tyrod Taylor. Obviously, these guys aren’t in the top tier of pro quarterbacks, but each of them have had solid careers in the NFL.

If the Vikings are looking for a young quarterback who won’t force them to break the bank and allow them to spend their money on other parts of their roster, Grier could be their guy. The problem is that he might not be available.

Grier is currently the backup behind Teddy Bridgewater for the Panthers and it’s unclear whether or not they would be willing to get rid of their second-best quarterback midway through the season. If Carolina will listen to offers for Grier, Minnesota should think about giving them a call.
