Cleveland Browns

One of the primary destinations for Harrison Smith from the outside looking in could be the Browns. Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski is no stranger to Smith, having worked with him during his time with the Vikings and this would give the Browns’ playoff hopes a big shot in the arm if the price is right.

Believe it or not, Cleveland is 5-2 after getting back to winning ways in Week 7. They will probably be more reliant on their improving defense more than ever after Odell Beckham Jr. was ruled out for the season on Monday with a serious knee injury. But whether they’ll want to give up the sort of compensation Minnesota will want for Smith is another matter entirely.

Former Vikings safety Andrew Sendejo has done a moderate job of starting for the Browns this season alongside Karl Joseph. But bringing in Smith would give Cleveland a dominant one-two punch on the backend of their defense that could allow the team to have a real shot at contending in the ultra-competitive AFC North.

This makes a ton of sense for the Browns. Players of Smith’s caliber don’t become available too often and if the Browns are serious about winning now, despite the questions surrounding quarterback Baker Mayfield, then they would be foolish not to at least make a call to Minnesota.
