Trade rumors are swirling about the veteran Minnesota Vikings receiver.
When looking at current Minnesota Vikings players who could potentially be dealt before this year’s trade deadline, Adam Thielen is a name that has been mentioned as a possibility.
This possibility saw an increase in Week 7 when Cleveland Browns star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. suffered a season-ending torn ACL. Former Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski is now the head coach of the Browns and the connection between him and Thielen is one that hasn’t been ignored.
Despite a report on Sunday from CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora saying that it’s “not likely,” Minnesota will trade their top receiver before this year’s deadline, rumors have still been circulating all over the internet ever since it was revealed that Beckham will miss the rest of the season.
What do these rumors say about Adam Thielen’s future with the Minnesota Vikings?
Before we go over these recent rumors involving Theilen and the Browns, here’s a little disclaimer. Neither of these rumors are from a national NFL reporter or any reporter on the local beat for either team.
Because of this, both of these rumors we go over should be taken as only rumors and nothing more until there are credible people releasing actual reports on the subjects involved.
The first comes from the Orange and Brown Report’s Brad Stainbrook. All he is claiming is that a possible deal for Thielen has been discussed between the Vikings and Browns.
The second rumor is from a guy who goes by the name Sir Yacht on Twitter. He’s a musician from Ohio, but the tweets he sends out to his 33,000 followers tend to be more related to the sports teams who play in his home state.
If you have no idea what to make of these rumors, you are most certainly not alone. People are free to believe what they want, but as we mentioned previously, these would be a lot more believable if they were tweets posted by someone like NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero or a local Vikings reporter.
In response to Sir Yacht’s tweets about Thielen, KSTP’s Darren Wolfson didn’t confirm that any talks between Minnesota and Cleveland have gone down recently. But Wolfson also didn’t rule out the possibility of a conversation being had due to the Browns losing Beckham for the rest of the season.
Despite where these rumors are coming from, the idea of Thielen being dealt before this year’s trade deadline still shouldn’t be brushed aside. Just as it was with Stefon Diggs, if the right offer comes along, it might be hard for Minnesota to say no, especially with the emergence of rookie Justin Jefferson this season.
This season’s trade deadline is on November 3, so just be prepared for more of these rumors related to Thielen and other Vikings players to continue until then.
