Spoiler role

The Vikings’ 2020 season has been shrouded in misery so far. Maybe during their last ten games, the Vikings will have a chance to spread that misery to other teams in the role of a spoiler.

The Vikings aren’t going to make the playoffs unless something miraculous happens. They could though, be in that spot where they are able to cause a division or conference rival to miss out on the playoffs because this lowly squad pulls out an unexpected victory.

The Vikings will probably be about a three-win team late in the season. It would definitely be sweet if they could upset a team like the Saints on Christmas Day and that victory be the reason the team misses the playoffs. It would also be rewarding to beat the Bears on December 20th and eliminate them from playoff contention.

The role of spoiler is usually a game that is played by losers. Like it or not, that is what the Vikings are this season. If they can share some of their misery with a division rival like the Bears or the hated New Orleans Saints by knocking them out of the playoffs, that would be a little bit of a silver lining in an otherwise lost season.
