More Bad Things

There weren’t too many things to hate about this game. Any time the Minnesota Vikings can handle their business in a convincing fashion is a good day of football for those who love the purple and gold.

However, there were some disappointments from the team outside of their special teams debacles. Here are some of the other cringe-worthy things from the Week 9 game against the Lions.

Other bad things from Week 9

  • Not getting there. The Vikings found themselves in third and long on several occasions and threw the ball short of the sticks far too often. It’s understandable to take what the defense gives, but when you offer no chance of a first down on a throw, it might be time to look elsewhere. Four converted third-down attempts out of ten is an area that needs improvement.
  • Collecting flags. Minnesota had nine penalties accepted against them on Sunday, a disappointing mark for a Mike Zimmer team. Those penalties set them back 69 yards and negated some pretty good offensive plays. However, the Harrison Smith penalty was once again a travesty of justice.
