Take advantage of Chicago’s quarterback uncertainty

The quarterback situation in Chicago is a mess. The Bears appear to have lost all confidence in Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles has been less than stellar after assuming the duties under center.

Chicago will also be without the services of running back David Montgomery, who failed to come out of the concussion protocol in time. Tarik Cohen is an obvious long-term absentee as well, so the onus will be on Foles to move the chains by whatever means necessary against a Vikings defense that has shown some real signs of life since their bye week.

Fortunately for Foles, there won’t be much pressure from the home fans at Soldier Field due to the COVID-19 health concerns. However, the whole NFL world will be watching him on Monday night and this can come with its own set of complications.

If Minnesota can get enough pressure on Foles from their defensive front and keep things tight in coverage, there should be a real chance to stifle progression. There is plenty of uncertainty surrounding the Bears signal-caller heading into Monday’s game and if things don’t go right early on, it will only increase his nerves and indecisions.

Nobody will know this more than Mike Zimmer, so expect the Vikings to take plenty of risks and blitz prominently, especially during the opening exchanges.
