5 Cowboys players the Vikings should be most concerned about
By Nik Edlund
Ezekiel Elliott – RB
The Minneota Vikings will be heading into this game with one thing definitely on their mind and that is slowing down the Cowboys’ trifecta of wide receivers. They have three good ones that are a nightmare matchup for the Vikings’ young group of cornerbacks. While that is a major concern, the Vikings cannot forget about the Cowboys’ stud back Ezekiel Elliott.
Elliott has had a bit of an offseason this year. Without Dak Prescott tossing the rock to those stallion-esque receivers, Zeke has tried to carry the load and it just hasn’t panned out. On the season, Elliott has rushed for 572 yards with five touchdowns. Those numbers don’t scream down season, but the last four games that the Cowboys have played without Prescott, Elliott has averaged a very pedestrian 52 rushing yards a game. Elliott hasn’t even cracked 100 yards in a game the entire 2020 season.
The Minnesota Vikings run defense hasn’t been great this year. They were giving up pretty sizeable chunks to Cordarrelle Patterson last week before they tightened things up in the second half. Elliott is due for a breakout game and if the Vikings underestimate him in this Sunday’s game, he could finally top that 100-yard mark on the season, and carry his team to an upset victory.
