4 keys to victory for the Vikings vs. the Cowboys in Week 11
By Dean Jones
Take advantage of a suspect secondary
The Cowboys are currently giving up 224.6 yards-per-game through the air, which isn’t the worst by any stretch of the imagination. However, they will be without the services of rookie cornerback Trevon Diggs against the Minnesota Vikings and this is something that will have a detrimental impact on their ability to stop a passing attack that has been in a ruthless mood of late.
Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen made a significant contribution to Minnesota’s hard-fought win over the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football despite running back Dalvin Cook remaining the focal point of their offensive scheme. The Cowboys will stack the box early and often to try and limit the NFL’s hottest rusher from making an impact, which will open up even more space to do damage against a suspect secondary.
Providing they can do this, then it is going to be hard for Dallas to cover. Expect to see tight end duo Kyle Rudolph and Irv Smith Jr. more involved in Week 11, which only adds to the firepower at Kirk Cousins’ disposal.
The Vikings aren’t asking their big-money quarterback to do a great deal since the bye, which is working to his strengths. Cousins is managing games well and making important throws count and if he continues this trend against the Cowboys it should be enough for victory.
