4 most disappointing Vikings in their Week 11 loss to the Cowboys
By Nik Edlund
Kris Boyd – CB
Kris Boyd had been playing well for the Vikings recently, but he had a big old stinker against the Cowboys in Week 11.
Boyd struggled in pass coverage and he had just three tackles on the day. While those two aspects of his game weren’t great, he also accounted for two huge missed opportunities in the matchup that could’ve sealed the victory for Minnesota.
The first blunder Boyd made was on special teams when he was left uncovered on a punt and he waved for Britton Colquitt’s attention. Not only did Boyd wave his arms, he actually took off down the field before the ball was even snapped.
Of course, the pass went right to him and it would’ve resulted in a first down if not for his premature take-off. The play was flagged and the fourth down had to be redone.
Later, when the Vikings defense was in the midst of losing the game, allowing the Cowboys to convert a fourth down, and drive down into scoring position, Boyd had a chance to end the matchup.
Dallas quarterback Andy Dalton threw a pass intended for tight end Dalton Schultz. The throw was a little behind Schultz and then it happened. The ball went right to Boyd, through his hands, and off his facemask.
In Boyd’s defense, it would’ve been a difficult grab as he was falling to the ground. But it was a catch he had to make and one that would’ve given Minnesota their fourth straight victory. Instead, it put an ugly bow on a disappointing performance from the second-year Vikings cornerback.
