4 bold predictions for the rest of the Vikings 2020 season
By Adam Patrick
Minnesota makes the playoffs and wins at least one game
The road to the playoffs is not going to be an easy one for the Vikings. But since returning from their bye in Week 7, they’ve looked like a team that can compete with just about anyone in the NFL.
Even during their recent loss to the Cowboys, Minnesota still put up 430 yards of total offense, including more than 300 passing yards for the second time this year.
But if the Vikings are going to grab a spot in this season’s playoffs, they will need their defense to get back to playing like they did during the team’s recent three-game winning streak. Looking at the opponents left on their schedule, Minnesota’s defense should have several opportunities to get back on track.
If the defense gets back to performing at a solid level and the offense maintains what they’ve been doing since the bye week, the Vikings should win at least five of their final six games and secure one of the seven playoff spots available in the NFC this year.
Once they get into the postseason, Minnesota will likely face the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers, or the winner of the NFC West in the first round.
The Vikings have already defeated the Packers this year, the Saints aren’t unbeatable (especially against Minnesota in the playoffs), and the Vikings have already proven that they can hang with the Seattle Seahawks if they end up being the team to finish at the top of the NFC West.
After the first round of the postseason though, who knows how much noise Minnesota might make. Will they just be sent home in the second round like last year or do they have what it takes to make a magical run to the Super Bowl?
Time will tell, but when the final whistle blows in Week 17, the 2020 season won’t be over for the guys that suit up in purple and gold.
