Current regime must still be in place

Any chance of Teddy Bridgewater re-joining the Vikings in the near future will ultimately depend on who is in charge of constructing the team’s roster at the time.

If Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman are still with Minnesota when Bridgewater hits free agency, then this will be a reunion that won’t be able to be ruled out as an actual possibility. They were the head coach and general manager who drafted the quarterback, so they might look to give him a second chance with the team to see if he can become the franchise leader they thought he could be when they used a first-round pick on him.

If Bridgewater becomes a free agent in 2023 and Zimmer is still with the Vikings, expect him to try and convince Spielman to bring back the veteran quarterback. The Minnesota head coach grew close with Bridgewater during their time together and he even admitted the other day that he still stays in regular contact with the current Panthers signal-caller.

But this relationship won’t matter if Zimmer and Spielman are gone whenever Bridgewater hits free agency. If the Vikings have a new head coach and general manager by the time their former quarterback becomes a free agent, then the new people in charge probably won’t be looking to bring back any old faces.
