Vikings get No. 7 seed (Version II)

What has to happen:

  • Vikings finish 8-8
  • Cardinals finish 8-8
  • Bears finish 7-9

This is a similar scenario to the previous one we went over for the Vikings. If Minnesota ended up losing two of their final five games, one of their three wins would have to come against the Lions due to the common opponent tiebreaker with the Cardinals once again.

So obviously, it’s becoming pretty clear that the Vikings’ final matchup of the season against Detroit could end up being very important. Minnesota will have to play this game on the road, but it will come against a Lions team that has lost six-straight matchups with the purple and gold.

Now at 4-7 with an interim head coach following the recent firing of Matt Patricia, Detroit doesn’t really have much to play for during the rest of the season. But they would definitely love to close out their year with a win, especially if it resulted in knocking the Vikings out of a playoff spot.
