5 Bold Predictions: Minnesota Vikings vs. Jacksonville Jaguars – Week 13
By Chris Schad
Chark will be a problem for the Vikings secondary
When thinking about the Jaguars, it’s hard to get excited about anything. Jacksonville has benched fan-favorite Gardner Minshew for Mike Glennon and as the team sent away a majority of its talent, Jaguars fans will have to wait for next year to see how their favorite team can rebuild.
For now, the Jaguars have one exciting talent at receiver in DJ Chark. Chark missed last week’s game against the Cleveland Browns due to injury, but he is one of the more underrated receivers in the NFL. This week, he’ll get a solid matchup to prove it as he will be facing the Vikings’ young secondary.
What makes Chark so dangerous is that the Jaguars use him as an elite defense. Per PFF, Chark runs 28.1 percent of his routes 20 yards or more downfield. While Minnesota has done a good job of letting such plays be completed in recent weeks, they still struggle in that area and they could allow Chark to get a big reception or two on Sunday.
With D.J. Wonnum out for the Vikings, they’ll also have to find a way to get pressure on Glennon. If not, that could be what the Jaguars passing attack needs to get going.
