Robinson approaching a huge feat
Jaguars tailback James Robinson is among the NFL’s most pleasant surprises this season. Jacksonville shock-released veteran running back Leonard Fournette before the season kicked off. Why? Probably because they saw Robinson was absolutely capable of an RB1 job during training camp and preseason activities.
Fournette signed with Tampa Bay, who the Vikings will face next weekend. Robinson has been tremendous. He needs 215 rushing yards to set the NFL rookie rushing record for an undrafted player. In 2001, Dominic Rhodes rushed for 1104 yards as an undrafted member of the Colts. Robinson has 890 rushing yards through Week 12 of this season.
It’s unlikely Robinson will bust off 215 rushing yards versus the Vikings this weekend at U.S. Bank Stadium, but strangers things have happened. You’re a Viking fan, so you know what we’re talking about. Several oddities have beset the franchise since its inception.
Barring injury, however, Robinson should seize this record in the coming weeks.
