Stop James Robinson
It has been a campaign of abject failure overall for the Jaguars once again. But they appear to have found a real gem in running back James Robinson.
The undrafted free-agent worked his way up the depth chart in double-quick time and his high level of production has seen the player become one of the NFL’s feel-good stories of 2020. Robinson’s fearless running ability is matched by incredible elusiveness in open space, which are two strong traits needed for a successful career that didn’t seem possible after he failed to hear his name called over draft weekend.
Robinson already has 1,170 all-purpose yards through 11 games – 890 of which have come on the ground. The former Illinois State standout has 490 yards after contact, eight touchdowns, 15 broken tackles, and an eye-catching 74.8 grade from Pro Football Focus as a result of his 2020 efforts so far.
This could be a problem for the Minnesota Vikings, who appeared to have some difficulty stopping Carolina’s running attack in the first half despite the absence of All-Pro Christian McCaffrey. The Jaguars are limited moving the football in the passing game, so clamping down on Robinson will be crucial to their chances of getting themselves back to .500 and boosting their playoff hopes in the process.
