Chris Jones – CB

Chris Jones is another player that’s been thrust into a more prominent role in recent weeks. The Vikings were forced to put Holton Hill and Mike Hughes on injured reserve earlier this season, which was the last thing that the team needed after parting ways with Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes, and Mackensie Alexander this past offseason.

Jones has coped well, for the most part, with this extra responsibility. There have been some growing pains where he is concerned, but one could say this about most inexperienced players at the position.

Jones has handled himself well and there will be no pressure on the player to be exposed on the out on the field thanks to the encouraging development of Minnesota’s rookie cornerback duo Jeff Gladney and Cameron Dantzler.

Getting a talented young player like Jones tied down also makes financial sense. This is another key element of almost every decision the Vikings are going to make in 2021 and the former Nebraska standout might be useful in next season thanks to the valuable experience he’s been gaining out on the field this year.
