Minnesota Vikings Best and Worst: Week 14 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
By Adam Carlson
More Bad Things
This was a big collapse for the Minnesota Vikings as a whole. The offense didn’t put a lot of points on the board, the defense allowed too many points, and special teams was terrible in general in Week 14.
Here are some more things that weren’t great for the purple and gold against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Other bad things from Week 14
- Absolutely no pass rush. Tom Brady might be an NFL superstar, but that doesn’t mean that he’s untouchable. The Vikings weren’t able to sack the 43-year-old quarterback and the team as a whole was only able to get three hits on Brady.
- Penalties. If you ask Vikings fans, a majority of them will tell you that they don’t agree with several of the calls against Minnesota in this game. The team had five penalties accepted against them for a total of 71 yards, several of which came at key moments that greatly benefited Tampa Bay. Plus, there were some calls that weren’t made that should have been, which always raises an eyebrow.
- Pass protection. Coming into the game, the Vikings offensive line was already struggling. Injures during the game made that weakness even more evident when backups for the backups came into the game. The offense allowed 12 hits on Kirk Cousins, who was either running for his life or getting up off the ground for much of the game.
