Mitchell Trubisky – QB

Mitchell Trubisky gets a lot of flak for being the first quarterback taken in a draft that also featured both Deshaun Watson and Pat Mahomes. While that wasn’t Trubisky’s fault, his play through the first four seasons of his career is and it is a big reason why he’ll likely be with a new team in 2021.

While Trubisky has been disappointing so far in his NFL career, he isn’t a player the Vikings can overlook. He’s 2-2 in his career against Minnesota and he is a desperate man who will basically be interviewing for a new team during these last three games. So he’ll be trying to put his best play on tape to get the biggest payday he can next year.

The biggest issue the Vikings will need to be concerned about with Trubisky is his ability to scamper and extend drives by picking up first downs with his legs. This guy is an underrated athlete and if Minnesota doesn’t have a linebacker spy him at all times, he will cause damage on the ground.

Trubisky also loves to throw to Bears receiver Allen Robinson and he isn’t afraid to target him over and over again. The Vikings should plan to take Robinson out of the equation to make Trubisky lose his favorite target and be forced to look to other, less trusted options.

Trubisky hasn’t panned out for the Bears the way Watson or Mahomes have with their respective teams, but he still has plenty of talent and he could surprise the Vikings if they don’t game-plan for his strengths and tendencies.
