With a loss to the Bears in Week 15, the playoffs are less of a realistic possibility for the Vikings heading into this matchup with the Saints. Because of this, however, Minnesota will have the opportunity to play the part of spoiler in what is becoming an annual game against New Orleans.

At this time, it’s unclear who will be starting under center for the Saints when they take on the Vikings. Taysom Hill has been New Orleans’ starting quarterback in their last four games, but the team just designated Drew Brees to return from injured reserve. So it’s possible that Brees could be back as the Saints starter when they face Minnesota.

No matter who starts at quarterback for New Orleans, Mike Zimmer will make sure the Vikings defense makes life tough for them all afternoon long. For whatever reason, Zimmer always seems to have the formula to beat his old friend, Sean Payton, and the Saints as Minnesota has won three of the last four meetings between the two teams.

Zimmer’s success against Payton will continue in this matchup as the Vikings will play the part of the Grinch and spoil Christmas for New Orleans.

Prediction: Vikings win (7-8)
