4 Vikings players who could get big-time money in the future
By Dean Jones
Justin Jefferson – WR
A new deal for Justin Jefferson might be some way off just yet. But the wide receiver is going to be a wealthy man in the years to come if he continues his meteoric rise to superstardom.
The Vikings have a real gem on their hands with Jefferson, who has taken to the next level extremely well and ensured the offense hasn’t skipped a beat despite making the big decision to trade Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills earlier this year.
Jefferson came into the NFL brimming with confidence after starring for LSU in their National Championship triumph in 2019. But few expected the wideout to have the sort of impact he’s made in such a short space of time.
Simply put, the future is incredibly bright for Jefferson.
He has already accumulated 65 receptions, 1,078 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns this season. Jefferson is a strong frontrunner for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award this season and he is one of the league’s highest-graded receivers according to Pro Football Focus with an eye-catching mark of 89.6.
If Jefferson continues this level of production over the next couple of years, then Minnesota will have no alternative other than to pay him the going rate. This might also be a game-changer for players at the position if the current financial state of the franchise improves.
