Chicago will be a much tougher opponent in this matchup

The Vikings’ victory in Chicago earlier this season was an unexpected one as they’ve historically struggled in Soldier Field, but they had some help from the football gods. Even though Mitchell Trubisky has struggled for the most part of two seasons, the drop off from Nick Foles was considerable.

With the Bears also trying to force Cordarrelle Patterson into the running back spot, it was tough sledding against before Foles even took a snap.

This time around, Chicago has the weapons to be a much tougher opponent. Trubisky has been playing better over the past two weeks, throwing for seven touchdowns and two interceptions as he auditions for another job in 2021. Meanwhile, David Montgomery seems to be knocked straight after coming back from his concussion, averaging 7.3 yards per carry in the Bears’ last three games.

Adding a pair of functional players to an offense that also has Allen Robinson, Darnell Mooney and even Cole Kmet (who could benefit from the absence of Eric Kendricks) should help Chicago put up points. If Akiem Hicks doesn’t leave the game in the fourth quarter on defense, the Vikings could be in for an old-fashioned NFC North slugfest on Sunday.
