The Worst
There have been some great Minnesota Vikings defenses over the years. Thoughts of the Purple People Eaters and the Williams Wall immediately come to mind, but those two units didn’t have much in common with the group on the field against the Bears.
David Montgomery had an absolutely amazing day running the football against the purple and gold, taking the ball right up the gut against the Vikings defenders and routinely coming away with big chunks of yardage.
Montgomery carried the ball 32 times for a total of 146 yards with the Bears offensive line typically parting the defensive tackles of the Vikings for large chunk plays. His exceptional running made the day easy for Mitchell Trubisky, who only needed to throw the ball 21 times against Minnesota.
Chicago actually had more yards of offense on the ground than through the air on Sunday. The Bears had 198 yards of pass offense and 199 of run offense, giving them a total of 397 yards of offense.
