Defensive MVP

Cameron Dantzler – CB

Who would have thought that both the offensive and defensive MVPs for the Vikings from Week 15 would be rookies? With that happening, the future is looking bright even though the purple and gold couldn’t get the job done against the Bears.

Cameron Dantzler isn’t going to wow people on the stat sheet with three tackles (all solo). But his skills in coverage and his ability to sniff out the football in the air was what made his play on Sunday so special.

Dantzler stood strong against the Chicago pass-catchers, keeping receptions to a minimum when targeting him. He even made Mitchell Trubisky pay for targeting him in the red zone by intercepting a pass to give the Vikings one more chance to close the gap near the end of the game.

With both Dantzler and Jeff Gladney playing well for Minnesota, the hope is that the team won’t have to use many more top draft picks on cornerbacks in the future. The Vikings always seem to make it a habit of getting Mike Zimmer a shiny new defensive back in the early rounds, but the team should be set for starters for the time being.

Who do you think should be Minnesota’s MVPs on offense and defense for Week 15? And who else deserves recognition for their game against the Bears? Let us know your opinion in the comments.
