Ifeadi Odenigbo – DE

Ifeadi Odenigbo has his number of people who will defend his performances this season, but this guy has been so disappointing that he has to be on the naughty list.

Heading into the season, Odenigbo was going to get his shot as a starter after his breakout seven sack campaign in 2019. He exploded onto the scene as he came off the bench and made big plays in just about every game he was in.

Many figured he was ready to start for Minnesota this year opposite Danielle Hunter and there was no real reason to think he couldn’t be even more productive in a starting role.

Then the Vikings traded for Yannick Ngakoue in August and Odenigbo clearly wasn’t happy, so he made it known on Twitter. It turned out that Ngakoue wasn’t there to replace Odenigbo, but to get a veteran pass rusher to step in for the injured Hunter. Odenigbo was given his shot, and he hasn’t capitalized on it.

After Ngakoue was traded, it was Odenigbo’s job to be Minnesota’s primary pass rusher. While he has had a few decent moments, the Vikings pass rush has been anemic this season.

Odenigbo has just 3.5 sacks on the year and he isn’t making the big plays he did last season. Maybe he is meant to be a role player and not a starter, and it’ll be interesting to see if D.J. Wonnum gets the starting nod in 2021 over him or perhaps a highly drafted rookie.
