With their playoff hopes in the distance, the Minnesota Vikings will look to play for next season in a Christmas matchup with the New Orleans Saints.

What turned into a remarkable comeback story has turned into a tragedy for the Minnesota Vikings. With a Week 15 loss to the Chicago Bears, the Vikings‘ hopes for a playoff berth faded into the night faster than Santa Claus’ sleigh and now they need a miracle to claw their way to the seventh-seed.

Wait, did someone say miracle? That’s interesting because Minnesota’s next opponent is the New Orleans Saints. While the Vikings have had happier times in New Orleans, they’ve had recent success against the Saints, claiming a pair of playoff victories and having the number of both Sean Payton and Drew Brees.

But the task of taking down the Saints won’t be as easy this time around. New Orleans is coming off of a loss at home to the Kansas City Chiefs and they will need a win to stay in the hunt for the No. 1 seed in the NFC. With the previous failures against the Vikings, the Saints will be motivated to get revenge and officially send their NFC rivals home.

In our five bold predictions, we’ll try to predict what will happen in this Christmas Day matinee and decide whether Minnesota can come out of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome with another victory.
