Moment No. 3
Cousins gets an extension
Two seasons is all it took for the Vikings to reward Kirk Cousins with a new contract that, once again, included a significant amount of guaranteed money.
Cousins put up great numbers during his first two years with Minnesota and he helped lead the team to the playoffs during his second season with the franchise. For an organization that has seemed like a revolving door for quarterbacks at times, the Vikings were clearly not ready for their current starter to leave anytime soon.
Moment No. 4
Vikings break the rules and pay a running back
It’s apparently extremely frowned upon by some for an NFL team to give a lucrative contract to a running back. But this public opinion didn’t get in the way of Minnesota handing Dalvin Cook an extension worth up to $63 million right before the start of the 2020 season.
All Cook did this year to thank the Vikings was go out and set new career-highs in rushing yards, touchdowns, a total yards from scrimmage. So far, the running back has proven to be worth every penny Minnesota is spending on him.
