The Minnesota Vikings could get anywhere from pick 9 to pick 15 in the 2021 NFL Draft.

It is kind of crazy to think that this Minnesota Vikings team is guaranteed a pick in the first half of the 2021 NFL draft. The team has so much talent that they were expected by many to be a playoff squad this year and instead they are fighting for nothing but respect in the regular-season finale on Sunday.

The good news for those hoping for a great pick in the draft is that Minnesota can’t drop any further than pick 15 no matter what happens in Week 17. That said, there is a highly unlikely scenario where the purple and gold can jump all the way up to pick 9, but that is mathematically improbable.

ESPN Sports Analytics Writer Seth Walder shared a table showing the odds of Minnesota earning each of the available picks in the 2021 NFL Draft on Twitter, and it’s kind of telling of how Sunday could work out. Here is that tweet:

Mathematically, the odds Minnesota gets pick 13 or 14 is the best bet. Between those two picks, there is a 75 percent chance of that happening. Moving into the top 10 is the most unlikely, with a less than two percent chance of occurring.

Of course, the biggest determining factor in where the Vikings’ pick will land this year is based on the outcome of their game against the Lions on Sunday. Past that, there are seven other games with big draft implications.

Here are the other games to watch this weekend that could impact the chances of the Minnesota Vikings receiving a better draft selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.:

  • 49ers vs. Seahawks
  • Broncos vs. Raiders
  • Chargers vs. Chiefs
  • Cowboys vs. Giants
  • Football Team vs. Eagles
  • Panthers vs. Saints
  • Patriots vs. Jets

Let’s take a look at what Minnesota fans will need to be cheering for if the Vikings are able to get a win against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Also, there was a lot of help from an article by Will Ragatz of Sports Illustrated and the Tankathon website in putting all this together. A huge shout out to them on their great work leading up to the season finale.
