Prediction: Signs with Cleveland Browns

During last year’s offseason, Anthony Harris was viewed as one of the top defensive players available in free agency. Many figured Harris was just going to end up being out of Minnesota’s price range and that his time in the Twin Cities was over.

But the Vikings made a surprising decision when they chose to use the franchise tag on the veteran safety in 2020. This locked Harris under contract with Minnesota for at least one more season.

There were talks of the Vikings and the safety potentially working out a multi-year deal before the start of the 2020 season, but Minnesota should be thankful that this is something that didn’t end up happening.

Harris saw his performance take a pretty significant step back in 2020. He didn’t come up with any interceptions a year after he picked off six and his ability to tackle at a consistent rate seemed to be non-existent by the time the season came to a close.

Despite his disappointing performance for the Vikings this past season, Harris should still generate some interest on the free-agent market in 2021.

The Browns were a team that was reportedly interested in trading for the Minnesota safety last year, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he ended up reuniting with Kevin Stefanski in Cleveland before the start of the 2021 season.
