Vikings free agents who will return in 2021

  • Todd Davis – LB
  • Chad Beebe – WR
  • Mike Boone – RB
  • Kyle Hinton – OG
  • Ifeadi Odenigbo – DE
  • George Iloka – S
  • Rashod Hill – OL

With Eric Wilson likely gone, the Vikings will probably try to at least bring back Todd Davis for 2021. Davis shouldn’t be too expensive to re-sign and he would provide Minnesota with some solid depth at linebacker behind Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks.

George Iloka didn’t do much for the Vikings in 2020 before his season was cut short due to injury, but the team could look to keep him around for next season if Anthony Harris ends up leaving this year. Iloka is very familiar with Zimmer’s defensive system, he has the ability to fill in as a starter, and he can help with the development of Minnesota’s young safeties.

Vikings free agents who won’t be back in 2021

  • Chris Jones – CB
  • Dakota Dozier – OG
  • Sean Mannion – QB
  • Ameer Abdullah – RB
  • Brett Jones – C
  • Jaleel Johnson – DT

Not re-signing Chris Jones and Dakota Dozier seem like two obvious decisions for the Vikings this year. Jones pretended to know how to tackle in 2020 while Dozier played the part of a valet as he watched defenders blow by him and pummel Kirk Cousins to the ground.

It’s possible that Ameer Abdullah, Brett Jones, Jaleel Johnson, or Sean Mannion could return to Minnesota this year. But giving some of the younger players on the roster more opportunities instead of bringing back these veterans just seems like the better choice for the Vikings to make this offseason.
