It would be a huge surprise if the Vikings brought back Riley Reiff in 2021. The left tackle did perform to a high standard overall this past season. But considering the financial savings involved, it makes a ton of sense to move him on before free agency.

As stated previously, this year’s draft is a deep one for offensive linemen. But if Minnesota wants a veteran to fill the void while any incoming college recruits get up to speed, then someone like Kelvin Beachum should be high on the shortlist.

The former seventh-round pick played every snap – 1,128 to be precise – for the Arizona Cardinals in 2020, giving up three sacks and five penalties to record an impressive 69.0 grade from Pro Football Focus. Beachum is heading into the twilight of his career at 31-years-old, but there is nothing to suggest he doesn’t still have plenty more in the tank given the tackle’s level of production this past season.

Minnesota might decide to get a stud edge protector with one of their top picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, which would be a big boost for their long-term aspirations. However, if Beachum doesn’t demand much in the way of salary, then the option is well worth considering.

Getting proven veterans at the tackle positions isn’t easy – or cheap – in free agency. So it will ultimately come down to Beachum’s demands regarding any potential move to Minneapolis.
